We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Social prescribing is not new to the county of Angus. Strong partnership working and respectful collaborations across primary care and third sector have formed part of a vision to create ‘An Angus that actively cares’, which is an integral part of our Health and Social Care Strategic Plan. Angus is mostly a rural county where the population of 106,800 people is anticipated to grow and where demographic forecasts predict an ageing population (perhaps more dependent on primary and other care services). There are also increasing challenges concerning to public health where poverty, mental health, alcohol and drug deaths are increasing across the county and in its neighbouring Local Authority, Dundee.

Rossie Young People’s Trust was founded as Rossie Reformatory over 150 years ago and has been growing ever since. In 2009 we completed the build of new Secure and Close Support units. These have all the very latest and innovative features that you would expect or wish for. Our 150 years of experience and self-development has ensured that the young people in our care receive the best possible environment to allow them to flourish. Rossie, as we are better known, is a Registered Charity (SCO19969), a not-for-profit organisation. Almost exclusively our income is derived from the sale of our residential services to the Scottish Government and Scottish Local Authorities. We believe in, and foster the ethos of, value for money.

The Royal British Legion – Montrose

Telephone: 01674 672 406
Address: 16 Wellington St, Montrose DD10 8QD

Since 1921 we have stood for and provided support to veterans and their families.

When servicemen and women return to civilian life after serving with the Armed Forces some are in need of community and friendship, maybe as a result of their experiences in the services or purely because they are no longer part of the ‘military family’ they had come to rely. We make a difference every day to the lives of those veterans through our comradeship and befriending programme, developing strong communities and supporting remembrance.

Our large family network is spread across Scotland and helps support veterans and their families to get on with their lives and assists those who require assistance.

Montrose Community Hub

The Montrose Community Hub sits proudly in the centre of our town. The facility, which has been serving our community since 1908, is a hub of activity, opportunity, and community spirit.
